Day 1
From the get go, you will learn to install a WordPress blog and have it running in less than 15 minutes. Then we will get you acquainted with your new blog administration panel to discover the various tools that will make your blogging experience more enjoyable.
Given the purpose of your blog, you will learn to define categories to help focus your writing around those central topics and how to define a default category and its purpose.
We will then dive into WordPress design themes which define the look-and-feel of your blog. You will learn how to find and install a new theme then preview it before activating it. You will also discover how to edit a theme and use CSS to adjust the visual appearance of your blog elements.
Your blog sidebar plays a very important role as a navigation panel and can tremendously enhance your blog look-and-feel as well. You will learn how to use WordPress widgets to customize the layout of your sidebar elements to display banner ads, Google Adsense, insert a sign up form, twitter feed as well as the typical widgets such as search, categories, archives, recent comments, pages, popular posts or tag cloud.
Learn how to write, publish or schedule a post to be published at a later date as well as password protect an article you just want to give access to only your VIP users. How to create pages and what makes them different from posts. What's a tag and how tags can help in your blog SEO.
We'll give you the grand tour of the WordPress visual editor so you can take advantages of the available tools to format your text, add images, videos, sound and YouTube Videos. This will give us the opportunity to introduce you to your WordPress media library and to manage it.

At this second day, we'll focus our attention to WordPress plug-ins:

- How can you use them?
- Where can you find them?
- Which ones do you really need?
We'll find and install all the must-have WordPress plug-ins to add functionality to your WordPress blog. You will also learn to manage comments, reduce SPAM in your blog and get tips to increase visitors participation in your blog. Learn how to manage your WordPress media library and how to use the library assets.
Optimizing your blog content for Internet Search Engines: how to?
Discover how to add Meta tags to individual posts, write compelling post titles, increase the internal linking of posts in your blog.
Then we'll learn how to integrate your WordPress blog to major e-mail marketing platforms such as ConstantContact, aWeber, ... to build a mailing list from your blog readers.
Finally we'll show you how a WordPress template is built. If you are not familiar with HTML, CSS and PHP, you can still follow along to see a broader picture on how your WordPress blog works. We'll start with a plain HTML/CSS template then convert it into a WordPress theme.
You'll also learn how to simply customize an existing theme to achieve the look-and-feel you want.
